Home tired and craving takeout? Do this first

Tired-night takeout is one of the biggest saboteurs. A simple plan for the night you don't want to cook.

End of the day, exhausted, nothing ready in the fridge. The delivery app is two taps away. That's exactly when many people go off plan, not because they're hungrier, but because they have no energy left to decide.

Why tiredness weighs so much

After a full day, deciding what to eat is tiring. Takeout solves the decision, arrives fast and usually comes in big portions with lots of oil, salt and sugar.

The plan for tired nights

  1. Keep an "emergency dinner" ready: eggs and salad, frozen soup, a chicken wrap, a weekend meal prep. Something ready in 10 minutes.
  2. Eat something before opening the app: a yogurt or a piece of fruit takes the edge off.
  3. Wait 10 minutes: shower, change clothes. The craving often passes.
  4. If you order, order with a plan: a dish with protein and salad, a single portion, no combo and no soda.

If you already ordered

Eat slowly, on a plate, and log it. One takeout doesn't ruin the week. Five a week does.
