Losing weight doesn't have to mean turning down every invitation. A night out becomes a problem when you arrive hungry, with no plan, and decide everything on the spot.
Before you go
- Don't arrive hungry. A meal with protein beforehand keeps you from attacking the fries.
- Save calories during the day. A lighter lunch leaves room for the evening.
- Decide your limit: how many drinks, what you'll order.
Drinks count
A can of beer has about 150 kcal, a glass of wine about 120, and a sweet cocktail can go over 200. Besides the calories, alcohol makes it harder to stop nibbling.
- Alternate with water or a zero-sugar soda.
- Choose one drink and make it last.
At the table
Order something with protein to share, like skewers or fish, and eat slowly. You don't have to try everything that arrives.
And if you overdo it
One night doesn't undo the week. The next day, go back to your normal plan, without making up for it by fasting.
